Chippa United coach Eric Tinkler feels his side did not use the ball effectively against Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout.
Chippa missed out on a spot in the Telkom Knockout last eight after losing 1-0 to the Soweto giants.
“I thought in the first half our pressing was very, very poor and we gave them too much space and they caused one or two problems coming through us way too easily," Tinkler told SuperSport TV.
“When we did win the ball, we didn’t do very much with it. We lost it very, very cheaply and that allowed them to always come back at us.
“So at halftime we made one or two changes and I thought the second half performance was fantastic. I got to give the boys credit, they have worked hard."
The former Bafana Bafana international was happy with the attitude shown by his charges in the second period even after going down to Vincent Pule’s effort on the half and hour mark.
The only barrier which plagued their performance was the lack of a killer instinct up front as on numerous occasion failed to fire at goal when the situation demanded.
“Disappointed? Possibly. I thought we deserved a little bit more. We got into good areas, the only problem is we don’t want to shoot and it’s something we got to get out of them.
“Us as coaches we keep complaining about the same thing week in and week out. It’s about getting in the final third and producing the end product and we didn’t do that tonight,” Tinkler said.
