Kaizer Chiefs news: SAFA throw out appeal against stadium ban

Posted: 19 October 2018 Time: 13:21

Kaizer Chiefs have had their appeal against the PSL Disciplinary Committee's award thrown out by the SAFA Appeals Committee.

The PSL on Friday confirmed that a hearing took place with the SAFA Appeals Committee, in which Amakhosi were looking to have the stadium ban handed down upon them by the DC reduced.

However, this was unsuccessful as the Appeals Committee supported the ruling handed down by the DC last month, which ordered the club to play a minimum of two matches behind closed doors.

This was as a result of Chiefs supporters' violent conduct and malicious damage to property at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in April, when they were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup semi-finals by Free State Stars.

The Soweto giants have already served one instalment of their two-match ban in Durban, which saw them lose 1-0 to Polokwane City earlier this month, and are set to serve the final one when they host Chippa United at the 2010 World Cup venue on November 10.
