Rivaldo Coetzee's long-awaited debut for Mamelodi Sundowns has been delayed further by another injury setback.
Coetzee was meant to play in the club's Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup friendly win over AmaZulu in KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, but he was withdrawn with a hamstring complaint.
Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi feels for the former Ajax Cape Town defender.
"We were really hoping that he's coming to play. Rivaldo was supposed to play this match. We believed that he had played enough matches in the MDC and deserves an opportunity to come and play in this team," Mngqithi said.
"But unfortunately in the last training session he stretched his hamstring, which is a new injury now. But we don't think it's something very serious.
"We are very happy with him. He played against TS Sporting, a friendly match on Wednesday and he played very well."
Sundowns signed Coetzee in August 2017 from Ajax soon after he failed a medical at Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic with a foot problem.
Coetzee, who had surgery to treat the issue, featured for the first time in over a year during the Multichoice Diski Challenge festival in Hammarsdale, KZN last month.
