Stuart Baxter forced into Bafana Bafana changes as Thapelo Morena and Vincent Pule pull out

Posted: 9 October 2018 Time: 08:32

Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has been forced into making changes to his squad for the upcoming double header against Seychelles.

Baxter faced concerns over the availability of Mamelodi Sundowns wing-back Thapelo Morena as well as Orlando Pirates winger Vincent Pule ahead of the start of camp on Sunday.

Morena pulled up injured in Sundowns' warm-up before their Absa Premiership clash against Bidvest Wits on Sunday, while Pule missed out on the Buccaneer's visit to AmaZuliu on Saturday.

The Brit earlier confirmed that the duo were set to report for camp and undergo scans to assess the exact extent of their respect injuries before a decision would be taken on whether they will be replaced or not.

It has since been confirmed that Cape Town City skipper Thamsanqa Mkhize has been roped in to replace Morena, while winger Thembinkosi Lorch has been brought in to replace his Pirates teammate in the national team.

Mkhize returns to the fold for the first time since featuring in the back-to-back World Cup qualifiers against Senegal in November last year.

Lorch returns for only his second international camp after making his debut in their Four Nations tournament in Zambia in March.

The first fixture against The Pirates is scheduled to take place at FNB Stadium on Saturday (15h00), before Baxter's charges visit Mahe Island for the second round fixture on Tuesday (14h30 SA time).
