SuperSport United midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase wants to fight his way back into the Bafana Bafana setup.
Ntshangase has recently started getting game-time again following his loan move from Bidvest Wits, where he was used sparingly by coach Gavin Hunt. He made 16 appearances in all competitions for the Clever Boys last term.
SuperSport have given him the opportunity at getting game-time, but competition in the middle of the park won’t be easy this season, with the likes of Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Dean Furman, Teboho Mokoena and Sipho Mbule all battling it out for spots in the starting line-up.
Should he establish himself as a regular in coach Kaitano Tembo’s side, Ntshangase could force his way back into the senior national team, having previously been called up by former Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba.
“Definitely, I’d love to go back. I need to try improve on myself, defending and getting forward and helping the team. That’s our job as midfielders,” Ntshangase tells KickOff.com.
“I have been there [in the national team] before and it shows that I am a good player. I can do it again, if I can just try to be calm, work hard again and get back on my feet. So far everything has been good and I am looking forward to being in the [national] team again. If things go right, one day I will be back in the national team.”
