Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka is delighted to have made his come-back, and more so after walking away with the Man of the Match accolade against Free State Stars.

Maluleka finally returned from a three-month injury lay-off and starred as Chiefs dominated Ea Lla Koto at Goble Park in an Absa Premiership fixture on Tuesday night.

The 29-year-old was instrumental in his side's build-up play, managing the highest number of touches (92), passes (81) and successful passes (71) of all the players on the park.

He was rightully honoured with the Man of the Match trophy at the end of the 90 minutes, and has since dedicated the award to the entre team.

“It feels great to be back. I am glad to have contributed to the team’s good performance,” Maluleka told his club's website.

“I am satisfied with my performance. I’m very happy about receiving the Man of the Match award. It just shows that the guys had my back from the beginning.

“I can definitely still improve considering this is my first match in three months. I dedicate this award to the entire team.”

With Amakhosi having gotten off to a stuttering start to the season, eventually winning their first league encounter against Cape Town City over the weekend, Maluleka welcomed their second victory on the trot.

“This win is very important. We were really eager to get the three points," he added.

"We knew it was going to be a very difficult match, but we showed quality as a collective. I am happy we bagged the three points.”
