Yar'Adua to cheer Eagles

Posted: 2009-06-06 12:56

Nigeria sports minister, Sani Ndanusa, has announced that the country’s President, Musa Yar’Adua, will be among the crowd at the Abuja National Stadium to cheer the Super Eagles to victory on Sunday.

"The President has declared that he will be the number 12th man for the Eagles. He will therefore be at the game against Kenya on Sunday," said sports minister Ndanusa.

Last month, President Yar’Adua inaugurated a special task force to ensure that Nigeria qualify for the 2010 World Cup, saying it will be a national disaster if the country fail to do so.

Well said Di Maria.
The president as the 12th man or the speaker of the house saying crazy things has nothing to do with us. Give us informations even gossips will be well recieved.
Not useless politicians who want to use this match to win support for their egoistical ambitions.

Anyway I hope politicians like Mikel and Yobo rot on the bench

James: 2009-06-06 13:54

nice points made. KON give us news on what is happening in the camp not telling us if the senate president will watch the match. Should we pop up champagne bcos of that. He is using this medium to campaign for 2011. You better post this news on PDP website.. @Amodu if u are reading this Mikel must rot on the bench, even if Yak is fit he should rot in bench with Utaka. Yobo can also feel how the SE bench is.

muhammed: 2009-06-06 14:03

this is not news we have read it in complete sport yesterday pls we want to what its going on in SE camp right now.

Billion: 2009-06-06 14:16

That the Nigerian president will be in the stadium is because the match is being played in Abuja; should it be played at Ijebu ode or Owerri township stadium, I wonder if he will be there!

Ronaldo87: 2009-06-06 14:23

Please, send Mikel back to England for pre-season. HE IS NOT NEEDED.

YOBO please go on holidays, we need young players and Adeleye and Apam form the best partnership so far. NFF can get Onouha as backup. As for Martins, he can change his nationality to Newcastle if it exists.

If at all Yobo stays in the SE, he should be removed as the vice-captain and a more patriotic Nigerian line Osaze or Enyeama should take his place. AMODU STAMP YOUR AUTHORITY.

Ronaldo87: 2009-06-06 14:25

Please join me for this campaign:

YOBO SHOULD BE REPLACED AS EAGLE'S VICE-CAPTAIN!!!!!

who agrees????

Wole: 2009-06-06 14:36

Hello every one, this is Wole and I believe every one knows my position concerning the SE and Amodu. I have deliberately stopped making comments on this forum for obvious reasons and I only speak only if it is necessary for me to do that. Someone is being mischevious on this forum camouflaging as me, Wole, and using my name to make stupid and senseless comments. I totally dissociate myself from the comments made so far in the last 4 days. Since someone else has maliciously decided to make comments on my behalf, I'm out of here and whatever comments associated to that name is not from me.

@Olatubosun, Mega, James, Billion, Stan, Frank, Gaddafi, Coache and all the good people of this forum, pls disregard whatever anyone has posted on this forum under my name in the last 4 days. I have not posted nor visited the site in the last 5 days.

I support Segun Odegbami in whatever he says or does concerning our Super Eagles. He is a man of integrity and an Icon for that matter. I sitll maintain my position about Amodu. He does not have what it takes to coach SE. SE is too big for Amodu, Shikena.. This will be the last time I will comment under this name. God bless you good people of this forum.

James: 2009-06-06 14:45

If i may forget. Do u know Kalu uche can play attacking game. He scored 6goals in 10games this is one of the best record we have for a midfielder in 9ja. He plays as a holding midfielder and sometimes his coach plays him as an attacking midfielder. Mikel hasnt tested any goal for past 2yrs. Even defenders do score goals. Mikel thinks he can walk in anytime he wants. Yes he is a good holding midfielder in chelsea but for 9ja we have lots of players that can shake the net. Pls I want the No10 jersey taken from Mikel and give him another jersey no. Jayjay shirt shouldnt be disgraced by unpatriotic player. Obafemi should smell the bench. When he is fit he always give excuse at a point he was caught in an occasion when the eagles where sweating in the pitch. Thank God we can have Team1,b,c,d so no player can take us for granted.
@Wole, thanks for clarifying urself. I guess the other wole is reading this so he can take note

ken gadaffi: 2009-06-06 15:14

The president being at the stadium is not a bad idea.... its gonna serve as a morale booster..... KON shouldn't be blamed for bringing such news to us who are especially far from home and may not read it elsewhere.

Obama visited some basketball games prior to his election and Gordon brown has often identified with sports too.

Ronaldo87, please leave the issue of vice captain or not aside.... we have a team of leaders, the issue of who captains the team is just a matter of nomenclature. After Keshi, we have not really had a skipper in the SE... the closest was Oliseh but the enemies within didn't let him last long in that position.

ken gadaffi: 2009-06-06 15:16

Wole, u dont need to bow out.... this is one of the major problem in Nigeria. When the good people decide to sidon look then the bad one hijack the affairs and both the good, the bad and the ugly becomes the same as we cannot really discern them.
However i have always said that by their comments we shall know them..... At first it was frank and now its wole being impersonated, I really don't think people can be this mischievous to be posting comments on other people's name..... KON should thus make this site name sensitive thereby only one person that can use an id.

Toluwase: 2009-06-06 15:48

It was a strong French line-up, with Franck Ribery, Patrick Vieira and Nicolas Anelka all in the starting eleven.

Nigeria were missing several of the their top stars, but a BBC reporter at the game said the Super Eagles' performance was much-improved.

Nigeria play Kenya in Abuja at the weekend in a 2010 World and

Obviously, Yar'Adua is looking for a way to appease Nigerians because of his go slow government and policies that he has unleashed on poor Nigerians. How many times has he visited any state in the South East or South South? KON did not do bad by reporting this unpopular hypocrisy.

i absolutely detest watching North African dirty football. you always see invisible fouls. a tunisian player just got a free kick for diving off the ball without being tackled.

Agaptus: 2009-06-06 20:00

The eagles that played against France will teach this Tunisians a soccer lesson. For the match in progress, the referee is a bit lenient on the Tunisian. I am not suprised that Mozambique got a draw with Nigeria. They play well. However, their finishing is suspect.

wale: 2009-06-06 20:04

its half time in tunisia vs mozambique, and my assessment of tunisia is a dirty team. though they played some good football, but their approach is not tactical but deceptful footy. i see mozambique scoring a goal as tunisia's back is vulnerable and their midfield is weak. after watching this match, i have praise eagles for pulling the draw in maputo. becos mozambique has a strong midfield.

ken gadaffi: 2009-06-06 20:16

I predicted 0-0 earlier inm the game between Moz and Tunisia... its unfortunate to see them trailing by a lone goal now with about 30 minutes to go.... I still have faith that they will come back as long as the game remains like this. The next goal will be crucial. Hopefully it will be for the Snakes of maputo.... I am worried about the referee though.

If Moz cannot draw this game, then its obvious that only the SE can help themselves to get over Tunisia... Its not over yet anyway....

Toluwase: 2009-06-06 20:54

2-0 to Tunis.

Agaptus: 2009-06-06 21:00

Game over, and Tunisia has won 2-0. My prediction. The Eagles will beat Tunisia in their backyard and Tunisia will lose in Mozambique. Anybody agree wiyh me?

wale: 2009-06-06 21:18

@agaptus, i agree with you 100%. with this game i watched, Tunisia is not as good as they really are. i only want people back home to support the eagles 100% tomorow. come june 20th, tunisia will fall right in their own backyard if they play this type of nonsence. moreover, their left back got a suspension(2 yellows). i was praying jaidi too gets a 2nd booking to make things easier for us. but once we beat kenya tomorow, the ticket is in tunisia for us to go and collect. i dont see them beating us in tunisia if we play the way we played against france, and luck is on our side...mind you we need to be careful of tunisia's dirty football. divings etc.

kenten: 2009-06-06 21:47

@agaptus, I feel the same way too.Considering the way the Mozambique team has played in recent times, I take it that the Tunisians are in for a rough ride when they play the return fixture.Lets continue to pray that the SE keep up their recent good displays; and the Mozambique team will be able to sustain this level of performance and remain motivated when they play Tunisia in Maputo. All attention now should go to our resolving our own part of the jigsaw puzzle, by firstly recording a resounding victory over the Kenyans.Good Luck to the SE!

muhammed: 2009-06-06 22:00

Agaptus i agree with you good luck SE

chuks: 2009-06-06 22:00

Tunisia won their game,Nigeria watch out.We cannot afford any more draw in all our remaining matches.SE the ball is in your court henceforth

fash: 2009-06-06 22:00

can anyone pls tell what the kickoff time is for the game between NIGERIA AND KENYA?just for the benefit of those outside of NIGERIA. THANX FORUNITES.

Agaptus: 2009-06-06 22:01

All I know is that Tunisia is not going to win 3 matches in a row. I now realize how lucky we were in Mozambique. That match is going to be a blessing in disguise.

Agaptus: 2009-06-06 22:04

With what these guys did today, I am glad we are not going back to Mozambique. They will beat Tunisia in Mozambique. The eagles will play well tomorrow and the result will reflect that.

Agaptus: 2009-06-06 22:07

Can anyone tell me why Nigerians are being asked to storm the stadium in record numbers. Can that facility sustain large numbers. I am affaid of stampede.

ken gadaffi: 2009-06-07 11:23

i did expect Mozambique to fight hard in Tunis and in fact predicted a goalless draw. However the atmosphere in Tunisia last night was so intimidating on the snakes and even the officials.
Well, from the onset we all knew that the matches against tunisia will decide the group. Lets go into the game today with the aim of scoring more goals as i still feel that goals will count later.
