Libya coach Adel Amrouche prefers facing Nigeria over Bafana in AFCON qualifying

Libya coach Adel Amrouche says he prefers the prospect of playing a match against African giants Nigeria over Bafana Bafana.

Libya drew 0-0 with South Africa in a first meeting of the nations in a 2019 AFCON qualifier at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

The result leaves the Mediterranean Knights top of Group E on goal difference with four points, having thumped Seychelles 5-1 in their first match.

Amrouche's men next face Nigeria, who bounced back from a 2-0 home loss to Bafana with a 3-0 rout of Seychelles on Sunday.

"I prefer to play Nigeria than Bafana Bafana," Amrouche said after the stalemate with Stuart Baxter's side.

"Because I have that experience to play against Nigeria. For me they've got fantastic players and it is not easy to play Bafana Bafana.

"They believe in juju (muthi), too much. We believe in God and in the work. For the future we can plan [but] it's not easy to play South Africa.

"Really I stayed up long into the night, always thinking about how we are going to stop this one and that one because we focused on [Sibusiso] Vilakazi, and you have [Keagan] Dolly. You have [Percy) Tau.

"It is not easy to play South Africa," insisted the former Kenya coach.

Libya, who hit the post in the first half and managed to frustrate Bafana, seemed content to earn a point on the road as the players celebrated at the final whistle.

The winner and runners-up of each group will qualify for the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon.
