Bafana rope in Mothiba replacement

Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has called up on-form Bidvest Wits attacker Mxolisi Macuphu as a replacement for injured striker Lebo Mothiba.

Wits winger Macuphu has been awarded for his fine start to the season, earning a maiden call-up to the senior national team, after Mothiba was ruled out injured by his French club Strasbourg.

Macuphu has managed two goals in five league appearances since his move from Chippa United to The Clever Boys in pre-season.

The 29-year-old netted on debut for his new club against Free State Stars, and recently scored again when they beat AmaZulu 3-0 in their last league outing a week ago.

The former Jomo Cosmos attacker has looked threatening alongside the likes of Zimbabwean striker Terrence Dzvukamanja and Gift Motupa up front for Gavin Hunt's charges.
