SA Players Abroad: Siphiwe Tshabalala makes his debut in Turkey

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Siphiwe Tshabalala made his European debut, while Kurt Abrahams and Mihlali Mayambela were on the scoresheet in a good weekend for South Africans abroad.

KURT ABRAHAMS
The 21-year-old, who joined Belgian Second Division side Westerlo form St Truiden last week, had not kicked a ball since February, but started and scored on his debut for his new club in their 3-1 victory over OH Leuven to take them up to second on the log after four games.

KEAGAN DOLLY
Dolly only made it off the bench for the final four minutes for just his second appearance of the season as French club Montpellier stretched their unbeaten run to three matches with a 1-0 win over Reims, lifting them to seventh in Ligue 1 after four games.

KERMIT ERASMUS
The striker was not in the squad, and is yet to make his debut for his new Portuguese team, as Vitoria Setubal drew 0-0 with Beleneses, leaving them 10th in the Portuguese top-flight after four games.

KEAGHAN JACOBS
Jacobs received his first league start for Livingston in the Scottish top-flight, playing the full 90 minutes as they made it two wins from two games, beating Hibernian 2-1 to lift themselves to fourth in the league after four games.

KYLE JACOBS
Jacobs continued his ever-presence for Queen of the South, starting his fourth game in the Scottish Championship and playing the entire game as his club demolished Ayr United 5-0, taking them up to third on the log after four games.

LIAM JORDAN
Jordan played the full 90 minutes in his seventh appearance for Danish second division side HB Koge as they went down 3-1 to Fredericia; yet they still remain top of the log, three points ahead of their closest rivals Viborg after seven games.

MAY MAHLANGU
Mahlangu was again absent from the squad for new Bulgarian team Ludogorets, who beat Dunav 3-1 to remain third on the log after seven games.

SERGIO MARAKIS
Marakis played the first 45 minutes of his first league start for Portuguese club Nacional, who were hammered 4-0 by giants Benfica, leaving them 15th on the log after four games.

MIHLALI MAYAMBELA
Mayambela netted his first goal of the season for new Portuguese Second Division club Farense, yet the goal was in vein as his side surrendered their 1-0 lead to go down 2-1 to Leixoes, leaving them sixth on the log after four games.

KAMOHELO MOKOTJO
Mokotjo came on off the bench for the fifth time this season, making his sixth appearance for Brentford as they beat Nottingham Forrest 2-1 to lift themselves to fifth on the log after six games.

LEBOGANG MOLOTO
Moloto was yellow-carded, but played the full 90 minutes as USL club Nashville went down 1-0 to Charlotte Independence, leaving them eighth on the log after 27 games.

LEBO MOTHIBA
Following his high-profile late transfer to Strasbourg from Lille, Mothiba was fielded in the 60th minute for his new club, but failed to make the desired impact as his side went down 3-2 to Nantes, leaving them 16th on the log after four games.

RICARDO NUNES
Nunes played his seventh game of the season as Polish club Pogon Szczecin earned just their third point of the campaign, drawing 1-1 with Gornik Zabrze. They remain bottom of the log after seven games.

THIBANG PHETE
Phete made his fourth start of the season for Portuguese Second Division side Vitoria Guimaraes II as they picked up their first win of the campaign, beating Sporting Covilha 2-1 to lift them to 12th on the log after four games.

THULANI SERERO
Vitesse suffered a 4-0 loss at home to Serero’s former club Ajax Amsterdam, with the South African playing the full 90 minutes. In the process, Vitesse dropped to eighth in the league after four games played. 

TIYI SHIPALANE
Shipalane came on for the last 22 minutes as USL club North Carolina lost 3-0 to Tampa Bay Rowdies, leaving them 10th on the log after 26 games.

LUTHER SINGH
The South African youngster made the Sporting Braga bench for the first time, but was an unused substitute as his side beat Chaves 1-0 to remain second on the log after four games.

PERCY TAU
Tau made his first league start for Belgian Second Division side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, playing the full 90 minutes in their narrow 1-0 loss to Beerschot-Wilrijk. His side sit sixth in the eight-team league after four games.

SIPHIWE TSHABALALA
The former Kaizer Chiefs star came on in the 74th minute for new Turkish side Erzurumspor as they went down 1-0 to Istanbul Basaksehir, leaving them bottom of the log with one point after four games this season.

LARS VELDWIJK
Veldwijk got his third start for Dutch second division club Sparta Rotterdam, playing the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 away win over RKC Waalwijk, leaving them seventh on the log after three games.

BONGANI ZUNGU
Zungu was stretchered off on the hour mark in Amiens’ goalless draw with Saint Etienne, and has been withdrawn from the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of their encounter against Libya on Saturday. Amiens remain 14th on the log after four games.
