Ex-Chippa United coach Dan Malesela replaces Vusi Mkhatshwa at TS Galaxy

Former Chippa United coach Dan Malesela has found a new home just days after his departure from the Port Elizabeth-based outfit.

Malesela was sacked as Chilli Boys boss following a poor start which saw the team register just one point from their opening three fixtures this season.

However, the former Orlando Pirates defender has not been licking his wounds for long and has already found a new job with National First Division newcomers TS Galaxy.

This comes after The Rockets sacked coach Vusi Mkhatshwa on Sunday evening, following their 1-0 league defeat to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC on Saturday.

"As you've seen the way we started, there were some challenges, we didn't start well. It's a decision that was taken after Saterday's loss," confirmed Galaxy media officer Sana Mabena on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, the club have confirmed Dan 'Dance' has taken over the reins for the next two years.

"Following the departure of Vusi Mkhatshwa, TS Galaxy FC has wasted  no time in finding his replacement in the form of coach Dan Dance Malesela," read a statement from the Mpumalanga-based side on Monday morning.

"Coach Dan Malesela has taken over The Rockets and will be at the helm at this prestigious cub for the next two seasons."

Club boss, and former football agent, Tim Sukazi has explained the decision to change coaches at such an early stage in the season.

“We welcome coach Dan Malesela to our cub. He is a great coach who needs no further introduction to the football fraternity," said Sukazi in his statement.

"He comes with a wealth of experience which will go a long way in taking our club to greater heights. As young as we are, we have become aware of the kind of responsibility on our young shoulders.

"If carrying such responsibility requires us bringing a coach of Dan Malesela’s calibre, this is exactly what we have done.

"As a club, we represent communities and supporters that are very passionate about the game and they want nothing short of success.

"This was clearly illustrated to us by the full capacity crowds at Kameelrivier Stadium in our first two matches. Our home matches were the most attended in the league and we have no choice but to maintain that.

"When our people come out in such numbers to show their love and support for our club, the message becomes very clear and we need not be told anything much further than that.

"The appointment of coach Dan is nothing but one way of us delivering our people’s dream of many years.

"The unique nature of our club has become clear in a very short period of time. We do not only draw support from the masses from KwaNdebele and many other areas around Mpumalanga, the Ndzundza Somphalali Royal Family is also in full support of our club.

"We saw members of the royalty together with the chiefs travel with us to our away match in Polokwane last Saturday and they will continue doing so to all our away matches.

"This is a first for South African football and these are the things that make us realise the kind of responsibility on our young shoulders.

"We therefore have no choice but to achieve the best for our people and if that means bringing one of the best football coaching minds such as coach Dan Malesela then so be it.”
