Brazil winger Lucas Moura slams Arsenal's Unai Emery for 'the worst seven months of his life'

Tottenham winger Lucas Moura has enjoyed a blistering start to the 2018/19 Premier League campaign but has now hit out at current Arsenal manager Unai Emery over the time together at Paris Saint-Germain.

Moura joined Tottenham from PSG for a cut-price £25m in January after falling down the pecking order at the Ligue 1 champions.

He made just six appearances, each as a substitute, in all competitions from August to January, having scored 19 goals and assisted 10 in 53 games during the 2016/17 campaign.

Once lauded as the next superstar of Brazilian football, chased by Real Madrid, Manchester United and FC Barcelona before joining PSG, his fall from grace was compounded by the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

This, coupled with the distrust of Emery at the helm, resulted in the 35-time capped Brazilian's eventual departure to North London.

"It was very hard, the worst seven months of my life," he told Brazilian outelt Sportv. "I came from a very good season.

"I was second top scorer of the team, only behind Cavani. The following season, I wasn’t even called up.

"I used to go to practice, I wasn't even in the game. I used to go back home," he added.

"Anyway, it was very difficult. But I kept working hard, strong. And God gave me the best gift of life, my son.

"I knew there was something prepared for me. When the opportunity to come to Tottenham in January showed up.

"I was very happy, excited with the opportunity to play the Premier League, go to a great club. I did not think twice."

The 26-year-old has since scored three goals in as many games within the new campaign, including a brace at Old Trafford on Monday.
