UEFA President provides update on Paris Saint-Germain financial fair play ruling and VAR in UCL

The President of UEFA has given an update over the financial fair play ruling with Paris Saint-Germain that has reportedly alerted Real Madrid over the futures of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Last week reports in Spanish radio station Onda Cero claimed that PSG may be forced to sell one of their most highly rated assets before the European transfer deadline to avoid Financial Fair Play sanctions.

The Ligue 1 side bought Neymar for a world record fee of €222 million last season and followed that up with a €180 million transfer of Kylian Mbappe, which was a loan agreement but has raised suspicion.

This brought the futures of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in doubt, amidst the reported interest from Real Madrid.

However, UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin, says the decision on whether PSG violated FFP rules will not be concluded before the end of the European transfer window shuts.

"The decision regarding PSG will be made later. It's not true that Real Madrid are waiting on the decision," he told Ekipa newspaper in his homeland of Slovenia.

Ceferin then went on to deny the recent claims that VAR will be implemented in the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League knock-out stages.

"I am still not convinced by VAR," he said. "There are things that are still not clear.

"Who decides to see VAR? The video ref or the main referee? People don't understand it and neither do journalists.

"We know that one day it will be necessary to use VAR, when we are ready."
