KickOff.com can confirm that young goalkeeper Mcebisi Langa is set to jet out of the country next month to have an assessment with French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Langa, who plays for COM Fitness Academy in Cato Ridge in Durban, was identified by PSG during last year's Manchester United Super Cup where his team lost in the final to Spanish side FC Mallorca.
Mxolisi Mthembu, who founded the academy in 2012 and is the coach, has detailed how the trial came about for 16-year-old Langa.
"We were invited by Manchester United as an academy to participate in the Manchester United Super Cup in April and we lost in the final to FC Mallorca," Mthembu tells KickOff.com.
"The boy Mcebisi Langa caught the eye and we also didn't know because we just played. He was invited during the June/July holidays for trials and it seems PSG were impressed with him.
"They have invited him back again and we don't know what's going to happen. From our side we just went there and played the tournament. We didn't know that there were people who were taking notice of our players as I have said.
"So they have invited him to assess him closely and nothing has been finalised yet. So the boy is very happy and is looking forward to it."
Prior to COM jetting out to Manchester last year, the academy invited Bafana Bafana assistant coach Thabo Senong, who is also in charge of Amajita, to offer some motivating words to the players.
Bidvest Wits' new signing Ricardo Goss has also dropped in on occasion to encourage Mthembu's charges.
