Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau has reflected upon scoring his first goal on European soil, but criticised the team's performance over the weekend.
Tau opened his scoring account for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on Saturday, as he netted his side's final goal in their 3-0 win over City Pirates Antwerpen in the fifth round of the Belgian Cup.
Following his loan move from Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion a few weeks ago, the reigning PSL Footballer of the Season has quickly found his feet with his new club.
The 24-year-old, who earned his first start against Pirates, netted with a delightful lob over the goalkeeper in the 80th minute, before being substituted two minutes later.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns star has since welcomed his first goal, but expressed discontent over the team's overall showing.
"I'm obviously happy with this first goal! The team is progressing well, the fans were at the stadium and this result is the fruit of our work," Tau told his club's website.
"Scoring with a flick? I tried my luck and it paid off. I am especially happy that we won and we progress in the cup.
"Our coach Luka Elsner was obviously satisfied with the result, but less so with the performance. It went well, with the early goal, but we relaxed later on.
"We played in patches. Throughout the park, in all departments the chances were complicated. It was a victory, but it was not the desired showing on the pitch."
