SA Players Abroad: Liam Jordan, Thembi Kgatlana, Linda Mothlalo, Dino Ndlovu and Percy Tau on target

Five South Africans were on target for their respective clubs abroad in a successful weekend for most players plying their trade overseas.

Clifford came on for the last six miniutes for his fourth appearance of the season as Lithuanian club Stumbras beat Atlantas 2-1 to remain third on the log after 22 games.

Dolly was an unused substitute for the second week in a row as Montpellier played out a goalless draw at home to St Etienne which leaves them 12th on the Ligue 1 log after three games.

Erasmus was not in the Vitoria Setubal squad as they went down 2-1 to Nacional in the Portuguese top-flight, with Marakis coming on as a first-half substitute for his first appearance of the season, helping his side to their first win of the campaign. Setubal sit ninth, and Nacional 13th, after three games.

Jacobs came on as a half-time substitute for his second appearance in the Scottish top-flight as Livingston earned their first win of the season, beating St Mirren 2-0 away from home to lift themselves to eighth in the league after three games.

Jacobs made his third successive league start of the season, playing the full 90 minutes yet again as Scottish Championship club Queen of the South earned their first victory of the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over bottom-placed Falkirk to lift themselves to sixth on the table.

In his sixth start for Danish second division side HB Koge, Jordan bagged his first goal for the club after just five minutes before adding another in the second half as they recorded an entertaining 4-3 win over Hvidovre to remain top of the log after six games, despite a loss midweek.

It was a night to remember for the South African trio, who played their part in Houston Dash’s 6-1 drubbing of bottom-of-the-log Sky Blue. Van Wyk played the full 90 minutes for a second time in four days following her injury, as did Mothlalo, who scored her first goal of the season in her 20th game. Kgatlana made her appearance off the bench count, scoring a well-taken goal on the counter in the dying minutes, her second of the season, to cap off a dominant display by Dash.

Mahlangu was absent from the squad for new Bulgarian team Ludogorets, who played out a 0-0 draw with Slavia Sofia to remain third on the log after six games.

Mayambela played 84 minutes of his second start for Portuguese Second Division club Farense, who registered a goalless draw with Braga B, leaving them third on the log after three games.

Mokotjo was handed the captain’s armband in his first start of the season for Brentford, who suffered their first loss in a 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers, leaving them eighth on the log after five games.

Moloto made his 23rd appearance of the season as USL club Nashville continued their inconsistent form with a 2-1 defeat at home to Bethlehem Steel, leaving them ninth on the USL Eastern Conference log after 24 games.

Lille continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comfortable 3-0 win over Guingamp, with Mothiba lasting 75 minutes in his third successive start. Injured compatriot Phiri was not in the visitors’ travelling squad. Lille now sit third in Ligue 1 after three games, with Guingamp propping up the table without any points after three matches.

Zhejian Greentown had to rally from two goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw with Liaoning Kaixin, with Ndlovu’s strike – his 16th of the season – starting the comeback as his side rescued a point. Greentown remain second on the log after 21 games.

Ntlhe came on for the last five minutes for his fourth appearance of the season as English club Rochdale lost 2-1 to Walsall, leaving them 19th on the 24-team log after five games.

Nunes played his sixth game of the season as Polish club Pogon Szczecin again suffered defeat, going down 3-2 to Lechia Gdansk. They sit bottom of the log with just two points after six games.

Phete played his third match of the season for Portuguese Second Division side Vitoria Guimaraes II, who played out a goalless draw with Academica, their first point of the season leaving them second-from-bottom after three games.

Serero played the entire match for Vitesse for the third time in a row as they recorded a goalless draw at AZ, leaving them sixth on the Eredivisie log after three games.

The 32-year-old made his 15th league appearance of the season as USL club North Carolina thrashed Charlotte Independence 6-2, leaving them 10th on the log after 25 games.

On his starting home debut for new Belgian Second Division side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, Tau proved his worth as he capped off a memorable performance with a fine scoop over the goalkeeper to open his account, helping his side to a 3-0 win over City Pirates in the fifth round of the regional cup competition.

The Bafana Bafana hopeful is yet to play this season, remaining an unused substitute for Italian side Empoli in their 2-1 Serie A loss to Genoa.

Veldwijk got his second start for Dutch second division club Sparta Rotterdam, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over Voldendam, leaving them eighth on the log after two games.

On his first start of the season following his recovery from injury, Zungu lasted 77 minutes for French club Amiens as they humbled Reims 4-1 for their first three points of the season, leaving them 14th on the log after three games.
