Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas feels it is important to support and "protect" veteran attacker Siphiwe Tshabalala, who looks to be on his way to Europe.
Erzurumspor coach Mehmet Altiparmak on Friday reportedly confirmed 'Shabba' is set to join the Turkish topflight club.
The 33-year-old, who has been with Chiefs since 2007, was in the stands during the Soweto giants' 2-2 draw with SuperSport United on Sunday in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-finals at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Solinas was afterwards reluctant to comment on Tshabalala's absence from the match-day squad and future at Naturena.
"Guys please understand my situation. It's not possible to talk about the transfer business," Solinas said.
"Tshabalala is a very good player, I like him. Tshabalala, let's not forget, he made history at Kaizer Chiefs. Shabba deserves respect. I respect Shabba.
"If Shabba has an opportunity, why not protect the player? Why not give the player support?
"I like Shabba, I respect him. Today Shabba did not play because it was a choice by the coach to put in [his place] another player."
The Glamour Boys next host joint-log leaders Bloemfontein Celtic at FNB Stadium on Wednesday (19h30) looking for their first win in four league games.
