Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas not prioritising one competition over another

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has ruled out any prioritising of competitions, and says he is well aware of the club's responsibility to compete for all trophies.

Chiefs have looked a shadow of themselves in the league thus far this season, but showed glimpses of their capabilities when they put Free State Stars to the sword in their MTN8 quarterfinal.

Amakhosi are on a three-year trophyless run, and the need for tangible success at Naturena has never been greater.

Despite the cup competition presenting a shorter path towards achieving that, Solinas has rejected any hints that players have perhaps felt the need to focus more on the MTN8 than on their start to long road to the Absa Premiership title.

"When you play or work for Kaizer Chiefs, this is a big club, we need to win every game and we try to win every game," said Solinas.

"It's not possible to select games, 'this game - yes; next game - no'. No, that's impossible. When you're Chiefs, you play for a win.

"We prepare and try to win every game, and in every competition we compete to win the trophies. We don't select which trophies, we don't select which games.

"So, this is the job. It's a tough job, but this is the [reality] for the players and coaches at Kaizer Chiefs."

The Glamour Boys will face-off with SuperSport United in the semi-final first leg at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 15h30.
