Juventus continued their winning start to the Serie A season with a resounding 2-0 win over Lazio on Saturday evening.
Juve were keen to continue their winning start to the season after getting out of jail away to Chievo Verona in their season opener last week.
The Bianconeri asserted their dominance early on when Cristiano Ronaldo got first sight of goal following a long ball from Federico Bernardeschi, but the former blasted wide.
Lazio, who suffered a 2-1 home loss to Napoli, pressed at the other end and the Adam Lulic’s shot sailing narrowly wide saw them coming close to a breakthrough on 12 minutes.
Juve kept up the pressure, showing their dominance albeit status as record-breaking champions whilst Lazio tried their level best to sustain the earlier onslaught.
A chance in succession fell for the Italian superpowers, with Semi Khedira first striking the post before Bernardeshci’s curler to the far corner forced Thomas Strakosha to a full stretch save on 19 minutes.
The side of Massimiliano Allegri took the lead on the half and hour mark with a superb volley from Miralem Pjanic, giving Strakosha no chance in the process.
A burst into the box from Ronaldo saw him cross for Mario Mandzukic, but the delivery failed to connect with the Croatian international five minutes in the second half.
Allegri made his first change, bringing on Douglas Costa for Bernardeschi on 60 minutes, with Juve in firm control.
The search for Ronaldo’s first Serie A goal continued firing blanks, as the Portuguese fired a free-kick against the Lazio wall before chipping in for Giorgio Chiellini who headed over the top.
Juve soon made the game safe after Mandzukic smashed home a goal-line effort after Ronaldo nearly profited off a cross from Joao Cancelo 15 minutes from time.
In seeing out the clash, the champions made their final change as Khedira made way for Rodrigo Bentancur as Juve made it two from two.
