Nigeria hoping to convince Victor Moses to reconsider shock international retirement decision

Posted: 23 August 2018 Time: 14:30

Nigeria want Chelsea winger Victor Moses to reconsider his shock decision to retire from international football at the age of 27.

Moses, 27, declared himself unavailable for selection with the Super Eagles after just six years with the senior national team.

Having featured at two FIFA World Cup's and winning the 2013 AFCON, the Blues winger revealed his intention to focus on his club career.

However, coach Gernot Rohr is remaining hopeful the lure of another potential continental success could see the Premier League star have a change of heart.

"We spoke already and I hope that his decision is not definitive," Rohr told KweséESPN.

"I think it depends on his motivation. If he really wants to commit himself again, he is welcome.

"Maybe the chance to win the Afcon is motivation. We will see."
