DRC winger Yannick Bolasie, who joined Everton for £25m (R460m) just two years ago, is on the verge of a shock exit from the Premier League side.
Bolasie, 29, joined the Toffees in 2015, with much fanfare surrounding his arrival after developing into one of the most exciting attackers in the English top-flight during his time with Crystal Palace.
However, his time in Merseyside has been plagued with injuries and new head coach Marco Silva has subsequently deemed him surplus to requirements.
And despite the transfer window in the English top-flight already shut, the DRC international is closing in on a switch to Aston Villa, after being spotted in the crowd during their 2-2 draw with Brentford last night.
The promotion-chasing Championship side's manager Steve Bruce confirmed after the game that negotiations have already commenced but admitted there remains competition for his signature by domestic rivals Middlesborough.
"We hope we can tie something up. There's a little bit of work to be done but let's hope we can pull it off," he told reporters, as quoted by BBC Sport.
"We're close, we think"
Bolasie has scored twice and registered four assists in 32 games for the Toffees since signing his lucrative five-year deal.
