Mamelodi Sundowns' Denis Onyango is eyeing the Absa Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season award after missing out to Itumeleng Khune last season, but says the league title is his first priority.

Onyango played a key role in Sundowns’ success last term, conceding 20 goals in 25 appearances while keeping 12 clean sheets. The winner, Kaizer Chiefs’ Khune, conceded 18 goals and kept 16 clean sheets.

Onyango will be working hard to get his hands on the accolade, but made it clear that it’s not his main ambition.

“If it comes, then well and good. If it does not come, it’s fine but the club must always fight to win the title. We are looking at winning the title all the time. The first priority is the league title and the rest will follow.”

Onyango will be back in goal when Sundowns take on Highlands Park at Loftus Stadium tonight (19h30), after he missed out on the MTN8 clash against Golden Arrows recently following a nasty collision with Polokwane City’s Mbulelo Wagaba in a league match at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
