Mario Balotelli future for 2018/19 season clarified by OGC Nice after Marseille, Serie A transfer links

OGC Nice have confirmed where striker Mario Balotelli will be playing his football just a week after manager Patrick Vieira asked the club to facilitate a swift exit.

Balotelli, 28, failed to show up for the first day of pre-season training and had been linked with a move to Ligue 1 rivals Marseille and was offered to several Serie A sides by his agent Mino Raiola.

But having missed the season's start of the new campaign through suspension, there's been a surprising twist in the future of the eccentric Italian.

"There will be a season three to the hit series," read a statement from Nice on Twitter. "The agreement was endorsed by all parties on Monday night."

"Suspended for the first three Ligue 1 games, the forward, who has scored 43 goals since arriving at the club, will be available for selection next week, ready for the trip to Lyon."

This comes just a week after new boss Patrick Vieira suggested the Italy international would be leaving the Ligue 1 outfit.
