Real Madrid's Luka Modric reacts to 'Inter approach' amid illegal transfer tapping claims

Posted: 20 August 2018 Time: 17:00

Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric has slammed suggestions that he approached Inter Milan over a prospective transfer amid an ongoing dispute between the two sides.

Modric, 32, has been strongly linked with a move to Serie A since helping Croatia reach the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

However, Real have not taken lightly to the recent brewing interest and launched an official complaint towards FIFA, claiming the Italian side had illegally approached their player without their permission.

While Inter swiftly denied the claims, reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed FIFA spoke to Modric as part of their investigation, at which point the Croatia international said it was he who made contact with the Serie A club first as he wanted to play alongside compatriots Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and Sime Vrsaljko.

But Modric, who was nominated for the UEFA Men's Player of the Year has since labelled the claim as 'the greatest nonsense in history' via his official Instagram account.
