Milutin Sredojevic identifies solution to Orlando Pirates' scoring troubles

Posted: 20 August 2018 Time: 09:20

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has admitted concern over his side’s growing troubles in front of goal, but believes opponents are purposely using a defensive approach to nullify their attacks.

Pirates are in a precarious state at the moment, having suffered three defeats on the trot following their 1-0 loss away to Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday.

The Buccaneers have managed only one win in five matches so far this season, but more alarmingly have failed to score in two consecutive Absa Premiership outings – both of which have resulted in defeats – despite the club’s appointment of a finishing expert.

Sredojevic is of the belief that teams have shown to plan negatively against them by reinforcing their defences, but says the solution to this problem would be to start creating more chances.

“It is something very disappointing. We are creating [chances], however we have still not found and set ourselves in competitive form and in the right scoring boots,” said 'Micho'.

“It is something concerning, we are working very hard to sort that problem out. Every team that plays against us are fully aware that a defensive approach will limit the chances created against them, believing that all the chances we are creating we shall not convert.

“And when you have that in mind, this is exactly [what needs to happen] – we need to create more chances, we need to be much more effective in front of goal and to bury those chances so that the results are better and we’ll achieve what we are supposed to achieve.”
