Bloemfontein Celtic defender Alfred Ndengane says he was well prepared for Orlando Pirates forward Thamsanqa Gabuza.
Siwelele defeated the Buccaneers 1-0 on Sunday, clinching their third win in as many matches in the Absa Premiership.
Ndengane was instrumental in keeping the clean-sheet for Steve Komphela’s charges and says he knew what to expect from Gabuza who usually bulldozes defenders inside the box.
“Thank God and my coach for giving me this opportunity. It was a tough game especially in the second half Pirates were coming,” Ndengane told SuperSport TV as he was receiving the Man of the Match award.
“Gabuza is a tough opponent, but I know him most especially when it’s high balls and him using the elbows and stuff but I managed to hold on,” he said.
Ndengane concluded by saying that it’s thanks to the supporters that they have managed to keep their heads up despite financial troubles at the club.
“We told ourselves that no matter what’s happening outside ... [we keep pushing] and thanks to the supporters and we keep going and be humble,” he said.
