Premier League champions Manchester City were in a ruthless mood as they romped to a 6-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola's charges dominated the early exchanges as David Silva carved out a couple chances for Gabriel Jesus, who failed to capatilise.

Sergio Aguero eventually handed City the lead in the 25th minute with a superb chip from the edge of the area after the Brighton goalkeeper rushed off his line.

City did not have to wait long for the second goal, with Jesus combining with Benjamin Bendy before firing a low effort past Ben Hamer.

The third goal arrived in the 35th minute as Aguero pounced on a goalkeeping error from Hamer to slot home for his second of the game.

Jon Gorenc Stankovic brought some hope for the visitors just before the break when found the back of the net with a close range finish to make it 3-1.

City picked up from where they left off as the second half began, as Silve got in the act with a wonderful free-kick that sailed into the corner.

Guardiola's men were quite content with just moving the ball around as the half went on, while Riyad Mahrez was also introduced for the final 25 minutes.

The fifth goal came in the with 14 minutes remaining as another cross from Mendy was turned home by Aguero, who completed his hat-trick

The scoring was rounded off in the 85th minute when Leroy Sane's shot took a deflection off Terence Kongolo and sailed into the back of the net.
