Xulu picked up the Man of the Match award as the Team of Choice drew 0-0 with the Soweto giants on Friday evening.

The Team of Choice was reduced to ten men a quarter of an hour into the match and Xulu took the responsibility of keeping Amakhosi at bay for the remainder of the game.

“It was a tough game, losing one of our players in the beginning of the game,” the former Kaizer Chiefs defender told SuperSport TV after he was awarded the Man of the Match award.

“We knew very well that we had to grind to earn a point or win the game because it was our home game.”

Xulu explained that the instructions from the bench were not difficult to carry out after going a man down.

“It was not a difficult instruction from the technical side because we only lost one player who’s our attacking player. So we had to keep the shape very tight at the back for us to win a point at least.”
