Sibusiso Vilakazi itching to change Mamelodi Sundowns fortunes in Casablanca

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Sibusiso Vilakazi is hoping to register their first victory in Casablanca this evening, but says they won’t risk exposing themselves.
Sundowns have returned to Morocco nearly a year after their heartbreak in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals as they were eliminated through a penalty shootout, after the second leg match ended 1-0 in favour of Wydad Athletic and 1-1 on aggregate.
This time, the stakes are just as high as Sundowns require a result in order to retain their hopes of advancing through the group stage for a third consecutive year.
The Brazilians are currently placed second in Group C, with five points from four matches, and trail first-placed Wydad by three points.
A win would almost guarantee their passage to the quarterfinals going into the final round of group fixtures later this month, while a draw could also suffice as their fate would remain in their own hands when they host Horoya in Tshwane on August 28.
“At this stage we’re sitting second on the log, so we have to look at our position and make sure we progress firstly, before we look at the quarterfinals,” Vilakazi tells KickOff.com.
“Obviously we haven’t had a favourable result when we’ve come here [to Casablanca], and we got knocked out of the competition the last time we played each other.
“We’d like to go out to try and change our record and get a result. It would be very good, it will come as a morale boost for us to beat them at home.
“But it’s not going to be easy. They are a very good, organised team and that’s why up to so far they have proven to be a problem for us.”
Kick-off at the Mohammed V Stadium is scheduled for 21h00 (SA time), with the match being broadcast live on SuperSport 10.
