Kaizer Chiefs defender Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya is relishing his rise up the pecking order at Naturena, and revealed the key role some seniors have played in his game thus far.

Ntiya-Ntiya seems to have already won over new coach Giovanni Solinas this season, having started all four of Amakhosi's league and cup games.

The 21-year-old was promoted from the club's reserve team in January, and managed just two appearances during his first few months under Steve Komphela last season.

However, following the departure of Tsepo Masilela in the off-season, Ntiya-Ntiya has catapulted himself up the ranks to displace Philani Zulu as the team's first-choice left-back this season, despite also the arrival of Letlhogonolo Mirwa.

Reflecting on his establishment in the first team setup, the diminutive full-back has credited the technical team and some of his teammates for his growth.

“It’s a great feeling. The technical team and the players have all helped me settle," commented Ntiya-Ntiya on his club's website.

"During the match, Bernard Parker, Daniel Cardoso and Willard Katsande talk to me quite a lot, continuously giving guidance."

With the team's Absa Premiership results having not quite gone their way in three encounters – their latest being a 1-1 draw with Baroka, Ntiya-Ntiya has sent a strong message to Maritzburg United ahead of tonight's meeting.

“We didn’t play our normal football [against Baroka]. Maritzburg have a young side that is full of energy, but we will work hard as a team, play our game and grind out a result. We are ready,” he stated.

The Eastern Cape-born defender also revealed his admiration for Masilela, as well as Sibusiso Khumalo, who has since joined Ajax Cape Town after being released by Chiefs in June.

"Tsepo is my role model, he always told me to work hard and be positive. Sibusiso Khumalo also helped me a lot," Ntiya-Ntiya pointed out.
