Liberian international Anthony Laffor says Mamelodi Sundowns have no room for error in their remaining CAF Champions League matches.
Pitso Mosimane's side head into their penultimate Group C match against defending champions Wydad Casablanca in Morocco on Friday, knowing they cannot afford to lose the tie.
A draw still gives second-placed Sundowns a good chance of progressing to the knockout phase, but a victory is what they will be aiming for to ensure there is less stress on them in their final pool match at home to Horoya of Guinea.
Downs, who are on five points in the group, left for Casablanca on Monday night, flying via Ghana. They landed yesterday and will have their first training session today, before Friday’s encounter at Stade Mohammed V.
The Tshwane giants were knocked out by Wydad in the quarterfinals of the Champions League last season, so they have a score to settle.
“Every game for us now is like a cup final. We need to win our games because if we make any mistakes we are out,” Laffor said.
“We know that it’s going to be hard in Morocco. We’ve been there before and we know the atmosphere. For us to be safe we need to win our games.”
Laffor has travelled with the Brazilians to north Africa and will be hoping to get an opportunity.
He has previously delivered for the Absa Premiership champions in big games and they don’t come much bigger than facing Wydad in Casablanca.
