Orlando Pirates midfielder Ben Motshwari remains grateful to Bidvest Wits for his development as a player, but insists his emotions will be put aside when they meet again.
The Buccaneers are set to host The Clever Boys in an Absa Premiership clash at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.
With this being the two sides’ first meeting since his arrival at Pirates in June, the 27-year-old has admitted he still holds a soft spot for his former club, who he represented close to 90 times over four years.
However, Motshwari, who made his Bucs debut at the weekend, is fully focused on taking care of business should he get the nod once again in midweek, as he assures his commitment to his new team.
“This is a team that groomed me to be the kind of player that I am today and for that reason they will always have a special place in my heart,” Motshwari told his new club’s website.
“However, I am a professional and understand that I have a job to do for Pirates and I need to put my emotions aside.
“At the end of the day, it’s not about me, the bigger picture here is Pirates and getting the job done over Wits in the league.”
Wits are currently top of the table with two wins from two, while a victory for Pirates could take them up to first place with seven points from three games.
Kick-off of the clash is scheduled for 19h30, with tickets available at Computicket or Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide at a cost of R40.
