Posted: 13 August 2018 Time: 10:30

Mamelodi Sundowns will begin a journey to Casablanca this evening for Friday’s crucial CAF Champions League encounter against reigning champions Wydad Casablanca.

Sundowns are set to board a flight to Ghana at 18h35 and will land in the West African country at 22h35, before taking a flight to Morocco in the early hours of tomorrow morning to kick-start their preparations for arguably the biggest clash of their group campaign.

The team’s first training session in Casablanca will be on Wednesday night.

Sundowns are second in Group C on five points after four matches and know that they need to get at least a draw to give themselves a good chance of booking themselves a spot in the semi-finals.

Horoya, who are also on five points, are in third position and are likely to get a victory when they host bottom-of-the-table club AS Togo-Port in Guinea on Friday.

Wydad knocked Sundowns out on penalties in the quarter-finals last year, so coach Pitso Mosimane’s men have a score to settle against the Moroccans.

The defending champions are yet to lose at home in this year’s edition of the Champions League, and they have not conceded a goal during the round robin phase on home soil, so Sundowns have a tough battle ahead of them.

Before leaving tonight, Mosimane’s men will have a training session at Chloorkop.

Sundowns have Andile Jali and Denis Onyango available for the match on Friday.
