Orlando Pirates have decided against signing Ugandan striker striker Mohammed Shaban.
The forward spent a few weeks with the Soweto giants recently, hoping to impress the technical team and secure a deal in the PSL.
However, KickOff.com has since gathered that Shaban has returned home to team up with his club KCCA, following an unsuccessful trial with the Buccaneers.
Pirates are not short of talent in the final third. Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga are the two men seen as favourites to battle it out for a place upfront, while the likes of Thamsanqa Gabuza, Thabiso Kutumela and Ayanda Nkosi are other options for coach 'Micho' Sredojevic.
"Shaban is back home in Uganda," a source says.
"He did well, but he is not what Pirates is looking for at the moment.
"The club has not ruled out the possibility of inviting him again because he is a very good player."
Pirates, meanwhile, are looking to sign Brazilian defender Caio Marcelo, who is still training with the club.
