Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas wants his team to use their 3-1 defeat to Bidvest Wits as as lesson ahead of their MTN8 match against Free State Stars at FNB Stadium tomorrow.
Solinas was displeased with the costly mistakes his side made against Wits in the league on Tuesday, and hopes for an improvement against his former employers.
"We analysed the defeat against Wits. We watched the game and we made a lot of mistakes when we conceded those three goals," said Solinas, whose men opened the season with a 1-1 draw against champions Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld.
"But if I analyse the stats, the game we had 75 percent possession of the ball. We dominated the game and had the ball. But we didn't convert this big possession to chances to score goals.
"We need to play more forward and we need to play more around the opponent's box. We also need to improve in our finishing because we created chances against Wits and we didn't convert."
Solinas expects a tough assignment against the Nedbank Cup champions this weekend.
"I have a good relationship with Free State Stars also when we played them in the Maize Cup I greeted everyone.
"It will be a tough game because they are a good team, strong physically and fighting, good players.
"In the last two seasons the league has increased and every game is tough and every game needs good preparation," concluded the Italian, who took over the reins at Naturena last month from caretaker coach Patrick Mabedi.
Mabedi oversaw the Glamour Boys' final three games in 2017/18 and much of pre-season following Steve Komphela's resignation in April.
Komphela has since made a positive start to life at Bloemfontein Celtic.
