Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC spokesperson Livhuwani Madzuhe believes having ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfield maestro David Mathebula as an assistant coach to Sello Chokoe will bolster the club's quest for promotion.
Madzuhe says the recently retired 35-year-old has valuable experience and knowledge, and is a good fit for the National First Division outfit, which finished sixth on the table last season with 41 points from 30 games – eight points shy of the play-offs.
“Yes, we have promoted him [Mathebula] now as an assistant coach,” Madzuhe says to KickOff.com of the former TTM and SuperSport United playmaker.
“His experience in football, I think it will add more value to our team. We saw him when we gave him a chance to assist, when he was injured, he always wanted to sit down at the bench with the coach.
“With all those things we realised the knowledge - where we can use it to get our team promoted.
“He has been coached by the big coaches and he has been there. He played for Kaizer Chiefs, SuperSport ... the big teams.
“We realised that instead of going out to get someone to come and assist Sello, we need someone who already understands our culture, who understands our objectives.”
