Free State Stars were foiled in their bid to sign South African forward Jaisen Clifford from Lithuanian club FC Stumbras.
"The club stood in my way twice. They wanted R3m from Free State and they said there's no way I can leave for free," Clifford tells KickOff.com from Europe.
"At the moment I'm pushing to move back home. I've already met with FIFA lawyers so I'll make a move for free, or if not I only have one year left on my contract. So I'm looking towards getting a pre-contract elsewhere.
"Also, I still have Boluspor [Turkish second division side] who wants me to come in January, but soon I'll leave here."
The SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits development product linked up with Stumbras in 2017 on a two-year deal, having previously plied his trade in Malta for Mqabba FC.
He won the Lithuanian Cup in September last year, which gained the club entry to the UEFA Europa League.
However, the 22-year-old got discouraged with the club's position when he attracted interest in his services, and was demoted to the reserve side.
He was later recalled to the first team, most recently playing in a 3-1 cup win over Atlantis.
Another South African Kgaogelo Sekgota is also at Stumbras.
