Orlando Pirates have opted to send promising striker Zakhele Lepasa away on loan to the National First Division for the 2018/19 season.

Lepasa has joined Stellenbosch FC for the upcoming campaign as The Buccaneers look to afford him growth at a competitive level.

The 21-year-old forward has made great strides in the SAB League, where he helped Pirates' development side gain promotion to the ABC Motsepe League.

He also found the back of the net during the first team's pre-season camp in Zambia, as he joined Thamsanqa Gabuza on the scoresheet in their 2-0 win over Forest Rangers last month.

Upon reflecting on the move, Lepasa expressed his excitement at the opportunity and is confident of making his mark within Steve Barker's side.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing in the NFD. It’s a great opportunity for me to raise my game in a very tough and competitive environment,” Lepasa told Pirates' website.

“I spent the pre-season with our first team and already got a taste of higher level competition so this is the next logical step for me.

"I have seen a little bit of how Stellenbosch play and I believe I can fit in here and do well. It won’t be easy but I’m a hard worker so that should carry me through.”
