Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana is pleased with the addition of Bafana Bafana midfielder Andile Jali to the Brazilians' engine room.
Sundowns beat Kaizer Chiefs to the signing of the former Orlando Pirates midfielder and he recently made his debut in a CAF Champions League Group C match against Togolese outfit AS Togo-Port.
Jali, who joined Sundowns after a spell with Belgian side KV Oostende, has been a long-time target of coach Pitso Mosimane, who finally got his man during the off-season.
Jali is bringing in tons of experience from his time at Pirates and playing in Europe.
“He is unfortunately not fit to play [on Saturday against Kaizer Chiefs] because of the hamstring problem, but having him in the middle is a very huge thing for Mamelodi Sundowns,” Kekana says.
“We have so many games as team, so we really need players who we can rely on in difficult matches. So Andile is a guy who will help the team, without a doubt, because he is a very strong boy and a Xhosa boy who can do the business for us.”
Sundowns may be missing Jali for their clash against Chiefs at Loftus Stadium (15h00), but they have Kekana, Tiyani Mabunda and Oupa Manyisa available for their domestic season-opener in Tshwane.
