KickOff.com has been informed that Lebogang Maboe has left Pietermaritzburg and looks set to complete a move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The 23-year-old was one of the best players for Maritzburg United last term when the Team of Choice had their best-ever season in the topflight.
On Maritzburg’s way to reaching the Nedbank Cup final, Maboe scored the equaliser in the semi-final against Sundowns at Harry Gwala Stadium.
The attacking midfielder was then named the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament, and also walked away with the Most Promising Player of the Tournament gong, despite their loss to Free State Stars in the final.
“Lebogang Maboe left today for Sundowns,” a source tells KickOff.com.
“He was driven by the club’s driver to the airport today.”
Maboe, the son of former Orlando Pirates striker Sidwell has scored nine goals in 64 games since he joined United in 2016 from Mbombela United.
