Bidvest Wits have confirmed 11 new signings ahead of the start of the 2018/19 season.

Wits ended off an abysmal attempt at defending their Absa Premiership title last season in 13th position, ultimately losing the crown to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Given their poor showing, apart from winning the Telkom Knockout last year, The Clever Boys have delved into the market to try and improve their returns this season.

Coach Gavin Hunt discarded a number of players from his former championship-winning side, as the likes of Moeneeb Josephs, Daine Klate, Nazeer Allie, James Keene, Vincent Pule, Ben Motshwari, Eleazar Rodgers, Bongani Khumalo and Kyle Peters made away.

The club have since confirmed the arrival of Haashim Domingo, Bantu Mzwakali, Simon Murray, Terrence Dzvukamanja, Mxolisi Macupu, Vuyo Mere, Lehlohonolo Nonyane, Robyn Johannes, Brighton Mhlongo, Gift Motupa and Deon Hotto.

Meanwhile, the club are believed to be on the verge of letting go of one of their strikers who only joined the team at the start of the year.

Wits will open their campaign at the Bidvest Stadium on Saturday evening (18h00), when they host Free State Stars.
