Luc Eymael says Free State Stars will use Olivier Kwizera as cover for Badra Ali Sangare instead of Sundowns' Thela Ngobeni

Free State Stars head coach Luc Eymael says he has given up on signing Mamelodi Sundowns' reserve goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni for the new season.

The Bethlehem-based side are keen to secure the services of the Kaizer Chiefs development product, whose future remains uncertain since returning to Sundowns from a loan spell at Stars last term.

However, Eymael says he has repeatedly tried getting hold of the Tshwane giants' head coach Pitso Mosimane to discuss the matter without any success.

As a result, the Belgian tactician will rather lean on Rwandan Olivier Kwizera to provide cover to Badra Ali Sangare between the sticks.

"I just called Pitso but he didn't pick up my call, he didn't come back to me," Eymael tells

"I sent a message and he didn't come back to me. It's so certain that he wants to refuse, spoke (sic) with me about that. I don't know, I don't understand, but it's okay.

"So we decided now that we'll maintain Olivier Kwizera as like a second goalkeeper. We are doing his paper for his work permit. Because you know we cannot wait until the end of the year after Thela.

"So ... we know Thela will be free at the end of the season, so that's what we will do. We appreciate Thela a lot, we wanted him. He wants to come to us but unfortunately we don't see anything coming."
