Bidvest Wits are preparing to part ways with striker Thobani Mncwango, who has only been with the club for half a season.

He has failed to secure regular game-time under coach Gavin Hunt since joining Wits from Polokwane City in January.

According to a source, Mncwango is set to receive his clearance from management.

"He [Mncwango] is not part of the coach's plans," says the source.

"The club is set to have a meeting with him before the end of this week.

"He is definitely leaving Wits."

Mncwango has previously been linked with a move to Chippa United.

The Students recently added Scottish forward Simon Murray to their strikeforce, which includes ex-Cape Town City hitman Lehlohonolo Majoro and Malawian Hellings Mhango.

Meanwhile, veteran defender Vuyo Mere has penned a one-year contract with the Clever Boys, who have also recruited Bantu Mzwakali, Gift Motupa, Robyn Johannes, Deon Hotto, Brighton Mhlongo and Cole Alexander ahead of their 2018/19 opener with visiting Free State Stars on Saturday (18h00).
