Lebese: I prepared myself for this

Mamelodi Sundowns winger George Lebese says he knew joining the club would be a challenge, so he prepared himself mentally.
Despite winning the Absa Premiership title in his first season with the club, Lebese did not make much of a contribution on the pitch.
He gained weight, but worked hard to drop six kilograms and is now ready to convince coach Pitso Mosimane that he deserves more game-time.
“I knew it was a challenge coming here. It’s living up to its expectations. I prepared myself for this, so I know,” Lebese said.
The second season will not be any easier for the player, with competition on the left flank even tougher.
Sundowns have signed Lyle Lakay from Cape Town City, and while he is expected to play at left-back, Mosimane still has the option of playing him further forward. Aubrey Ngoma, Gaston Sirino and Themba Zwane, who can also play down the left, are others Lebese has to compete with.
“It [competition] improves me and it makes me work extra hard. The good thing is that we can all play in any position on the day he [Mosimane] requires us to play elsewhere. Competition is good for the team and if the team is doing well then it means we are doing our job properly.”
Lebese will be hoping to get an opportunity when Sundowns take on his former side Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Stadium on Saturday (15h00).
