Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia says they are still interested in SuperSport United striker Fagrie Lakay.
The 21-year-old Manenberg-born forward played 15 games for Ajax Cape Town last season while on loan, scoring three times and providing one assist.
According to Kadodia, the Team of Choice are awaiting feedback from SuperSport regarding Lakay's availability.
"Ja, we had no feedback for Fagrie Lakay," Kadodia tells KickOff.com.
"So we still don't know exactly what the set up will be with Fagrie Lakay.
"I don't think that Fagrie or SuperSport will come forward, but our doors are still open. We are just hoping for the best."
Maritzburg, who are already assessing Matsatsantsa striker Prince Dube, will play their first match of the season against Golden Arrows in a KwaZulu-Natal derby at Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday.
Coach Fadlu Davids has welcomed Denwin Farmer, Keagan Buchanan, Nazeer Allie, Tholang Masegela and Sizwe Muthwa to his squad since the club's best-ever fourth-place finish in the league in 2017/18.
