Bidvest Wits newcomer Vuyo Mere says he is extremely grateful to have finally signed for the Braamfontein-based club.
Mere parted ways with Platinum Stars (now called Cape Umoya United) after they were relegated to the National First Division at the end of last season.
The veteran defender is believed to have penned a one-year deal with Wits after a lengthy training stint with the Telkom Knockout champions.
"I'm over the moon and grateful for what God has done for me," Mere tells KickOff.com.
"All glory and honour belong to him. Secondly I wanna thank the coaching staff [led by Gavin Hunt] at Bidvest Wits for giving me an opportunity to grow this already big brand.
"I count myself as one of the blessed players in the country, for it's not everyone who gets to wear the jersey of a team like Bidvest Wits. Now the tough task begins, I have to let my legs do the talking on the field sir."
At 34 years of age, Mere says there is no way this will be his last contract as he looks to emulate the likes of ever-green AmaZulu strikers Siyabonga Nomvethe and Mabhuti Khenyeza.
"No ways, Nomvethe, Khenyeza are still playing so why do I have to stop while God has so much for me? I believe everything that is happening in my life is all because of my God. He gives me the strength to work hard and to be humble at all times."
