Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has explained why he has signed young defender Tristan Moses from Kaizer Chiefs.
The 20-year-old Moses played a key role for Amakhosi’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge side last season, as they won the inaugural Diski Shield with coach Arthur Zwane.
Sundowns jumped at the opportunity to sign the central defender, who was with Chiefs for two-and-a-half seasons. His deal with the Naturena-based outfit had come to an end last month.
Moses recently told KickOff.com that Chiefs tried to keep him, but he believes Sundowns can offer him more and he was impressed with how professional they were in their approach.
Moses will be playing predominantly for Downs’ MDC side.
His signing shows that Mosimane is not only thinking about success now, but is also looking at the bigger picture at Chloorkop.
“He’s a young, left centre-back, rare to find. He showed that he is good in the MDC. He is the future, we need the younger ones. We need to create the future,” Mosimane says.
“The future is the Rivaldos [Coetzee], the Thapelos [Morena], the [Motjeka] Madishas. That’s the future of Sundowns. We need to get the younger ones while we are still using the experienced ones.”
