Real Madrid reportedly indentify Edinson Cavani as ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid have reportedly set their sights on Edinson Cavani, after receiving hands-off warnings for Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in their quest to replace club-record signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Cavani, who's netted 170 goals in 246 games for the Ligue 1 giants has emerged as a candidate to replace Cristiano Ronaldo's prolific scoring rate at the club after he left for Juventus.

At 31, the robust striker would provide the European champions with a cheaper alternative to Mbappe and Neymar, who PSG have made clear won't be leaving the club.

Despite his popularity in Paris and influence since arriving from Napoli in 2013 for £58m (R1b), it's been reported in Spanish Publication AS, that the French side would be open to negotiations to facilitate his exit.

With squad harmony as paramount importance, his well-documented feud with world-record signing Neymar could play a crucial role in the potential switch.

Cavani still has two years left on his current deal, but with PSG facing the pressures of Financial Fair Play, the move will likely to benefit all parties.
