Pitso: I wasted time with Mkhulise

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he regrets not introducing midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise earlier in the first team.
Mkhulise started the Shell Helix Cup match against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium last weekend and was not overwhelmed by playing in front of just under 50 000 supporters at the venue.
Mkhulise, a 22-year-old Sundowns product, has previously been loaned out to Black Leopards and Richards Bay FC in the National First Division, but he could get more first team opportunities at Chloorkop in the coming campaign after his display against Amakhosi.
Following the departure of Percy Tau to English Premier League side Brighton Hove & Albion, Mkhulise could just be the next star in the Sundowns squad, if given more opportunities to prove himself in the first team.
“I think I wasted his time, honestly speaking,” Mosimane said.
“I’ve always said it, to say that he should have been here. But they say, ‘Coach give him one more year, he is young'. I said Zungu was 20, Percy was here, so why didn’t we drag that one at 21?”
Mosimane says Mkhulise has a football brain just like Barcelona icon Andres Iniesta.
“Now I regret it. I should have brought him earlier, but it’s never too late. He is a good player, like Surprise [Downs legend Moriri]. For me he is an Iniesta, a football brain.”
