Amajimbos to battle with Mauritius for COSAFA U-17 Championship final berth

Amajimbos' COSAFA U-17 Championship semi-final opponents have been confirmed, with an AFCON qualifying spot still at stake.

The South African Under-17 men's national team are set to face tournament hosts Mauritius in the penultimate round at the St Francois Xavier Stadium on Friday.

Coach Molefi Ntseki's troops made it through their group after seeing off defending champions Zambia, Mozambique and Lesotho, as they finisheded top with a total of seven points.

Mauritius, meanwhile, finished as best runners-up of the three groups after finishing second to Namibia in Group A, pipping Group C runners-up Malawi on goals scored.

Amajimbos and the islanders will now square off at 10h30 (SA time) for a place in the final, while Namibia meet Angola.

The overall winners of the tournament secure qualification to the 2019 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Tanzania, where the final four nations qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.
